Urine Formation PPT: Composition, Steps (Filtration, Reabsorption, Secretion) Free download: The process of Urine formation occurs in the kidney. The kidney filters all the waste substances from your blood and produces urine for their excretion. To understand Urine formation, you will have to follow three steps: Glomerular filtration, reabsorption, and secretion. These filters ensure that only waste is excreted from your body.

Each kidney contains numerous tiny structures called nephrons. Each nephron contains a glomerulous which is the actual site of blood filtration. The glomerulus separates water and other small solutes, out of the blood. The filtrate thus forms contains waste material and also a few substances that our body needs like essential ions, glucose, smaller proteins, and amino acids. However, when these filtrates move through a duct called the renal tube, all the important components are reabsorbed through the tube walls into the capillaries. Finally, the waste and hydrogen ions secreted from the blood lead to the formation of Urine.
